Documentation - "65 years of the Bundeswehr", Part 3

In 1999, the Bundeswehr took part in the NATO air strikes against Serbia. In June 1999, German ground troops moved into Kosovo as part of KFOR in order to restore law and order there. At the beginning of the new millennium, international terrorism came to the fore. After the devastating attacks of September 11, 2001 in the USA, NATO declared the alliance fall for the first time in its history. For the Bundeswehr, the ISAF mission in Afghanistan begins in 2002 and does not end until 2014. The following year, the "Resolute Support" mission begins, training Afghan security forces. After Russian troops occupied Crimea in 2014 and took part in the secession of eastern Ukraine, NATO adjusted to the new security policy situation: national and alliance defense came to the fore again. When a global pandemic broke out in 2020, the Bundeswehr helped at home and abroad. In the course of administrative assistance, for example, soldiers test citizens for the virus and track infection chains.
